    One of the big advantages of BPC is that it offers a single platform to do Business Planning and Consolidation.

    In the old SEM environment, we had BPS and BCS for performing planning and consolidation respectively and they were done in 2 different toolsets.


    Planning

    We can do real time planning and budgeting with BPC. There is plenty of features to provide capabilities to do

    2. Bottom up planning.
    3. Allocation and Distribution.
    4. Trending.

    6. Drill through reports.

    BPC allows very tight integration with various cycles of forecasting, annual plan, and strategic plan. One can provide the starting point for the other.

    BPC provides excellent version management capabilities and also has rich features for audit.

    Since BPC NW sits on top of BW, there is a very tight integration of data flows for actuals coming from ECC. We also have the capability of scaling the solution.

    Consolidation

    BPC provides an excellent platform to perform both legal and management consolidation. It has rich features such as:

    A. Consolidation central

    1. Ownership Manager.
    2. It defines the organization structure that is relevant for a given moment in time. It defines what entities are to be consolidated. It maintains the relationship between various subsidiaries and parent.

    3. Control monitor.
    4. The Control Monitor links the ownership structure to a series of data validations to ensure data consistency within the saved data records. Business will be able to check the accuracy of rollups to parent entity as well as the values in individual entities.

    5. Consolidation monitor.
    6. This is where the business will be able to see and perform the various steps in the consolidation process. They can see the consolidation status of individual entities and group

    B. Several business rules that provide a starting point for performing consolidation functions such as:
